The military industrial complex is out of control - this has nothing to do with maintaining those illusions called "freedom" and "safety". It's all about money and power over others. Murderous brutes will always seize power and stir up unjustified fear. They then use that fear to justify killing people who "might" be a threat to us someday. Technology is making the killing easier for them. Scientists and engineers need to eat too, so they fall into the trap - convinced they are doing good.
